Bengal tigress Sita tolerates a cheeky young cub at Dreamworld, Australia. Though Bengal tigers are the largest subspecies of tigers, they are still listed at critically endangered due to lack of habitat and poaching. Tiger skin rugs are and have been a popular object, and much of their body is considered to have medicinal properties in some cultures. Unfortunately, even the Tiger Conservation Units, plots of land set aside for tiger user, are estimated to hold only 250 creatures each, at most.
Only recently have countries such as India taken large steps towards tiger conservation. The tiger is an icon across the world, and as such the popular megafauna has been used in a number of attempts to help increase awareness for dwindling creatures across the world.
For more information on tiger conservation and efforts in general, check out the World Wildlife Foundation’s website.
Momma Lun Lun and her new baby Xi Lan, in 2008, at Zoo Atlanta. Xi Lin was the only panda born in captivity the world that year, and is the second cub of his mother. Giant pandas come from the mountainous regions of China and are currently critically endangered. Human influences, such as deforestation, have played a large role in the decline of the pandas, but some scientists have theorized that the skeletal structure of the animal have doomed it to eventual extinction anyway. Unfortunately, their apparent lack of sexual drive makes it difficult to breed them in captivity.
Pandas in the US are rented from the Chinese government at a rate of 1,000,000$ per year, with a minimum of a ten year commitment (this may differ for research or breeding purposes). It’s a huge investment but the popularity that this charismatic animal brings to a zoo is usually worth the cost.
If you are interested, the San Diego Zoo offers a live panda cam to view their population of three giant pandas.

Not hating on the game, hating on the fact that the developers knowingly milk a game for all it’s worth by making you pay for content that really has no reason to not be already included.
I mean if the content is available on DAY ONE of release, then yes, they’re making you pay for content that…
The problem lies in the fact that you feel entitled to anything. You pay for what the developers want to give you for that purchase price. That is all that you have a right to. If they want to lock away or keep out content for people who are willing to do pay for it they have every right to do so.
The problem is that this content was not only available on day one, but is INCLUDED ON THE DISC. You purchased the disc containing this information. However, you must pay additional money to access what you have just bought? This is where I’m having a problem. DLC is fine by me, even on day one. But when a developer says that they didn’t have time/room/etc to include it with the actual game, and then it is on the disc anyway? That’s lying. For profit.
